Aandhi: Love in the time of elections. In this Gulzaar's film, Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen feature as star-crossed lovers. Sanjeev Kumar is the manager of the hotel where politician Suchitra Sen comes to stay during elections. Parallels to Indira Gandhi were drawn on the film's release. The songs from the movie are still remembered and sung.
Hu Tu Tu: Gulzaar's bleak but true look at contemporary India politics where politicians and businessmen are intertwined. Tabu and Suneil Shetty star in this low-key film that should have found more audience than it did in 1999. Sad ending.
