What I Know

I don't know what I have known
or what has been...
I just accept what lies in stone
and all those things I've never seen
I don't know if good can live beside my sin
Or if the heavens sent its angels
To introduce me with this creed
I only know what love reveals
throughout the years
Two little pine cones
in the schoolyard
where my children used to play...
How happy smiles I used to show
have turned to tears
and all the good times
that we shared
so far away
The things I know
Are someplace hidden in my heart
Where they shall grow
to be of use to me in time
to share like petals
from the blossom of my art
and mesmerize you
with a fresh bouquet of rhyme
One thing I know is that I've loved
and lost its feeling
Somewhere along my drifting tide
the sails collapsed
but then a breeze picked up my wings
and sent me reeling
towards a heart that
holds me tightly with its grasp
I am a witness
to this need to overcome
and all I know
is that the future
guides my way
It is my goal
to feel the warmth
within the Son
and share His spirit
with my heart
each living day
